What is the point of Famzona?

What are the different statuses of Family Tree members?
Active member- These are living adults on your family tree. Each Active node is managed by a living person who has their own login access. An Active member can add media, thoughts and events to their own account.
Placeholder member- These are accounts created for a living adult by an Active member. They are Placeholder accounts until the living adult assumes control of the account. Once the living adult takes control their Placeholder account it becomes an Active account. No media, thoughts or events can be added to a Placeholder account until they become active.
Managed member-This is an account for either a child or a non-living family member. A Managed account is controlled by family member with an Active account. The managing member is the only one who can add media, thoughts and events to a Managed account.
I've set up my family tree, now what do I do?
Invite Placeholder account members – If you have created a node on your family tree for another living adult you need to transfer control of that account to them. Here's how to transfer the Placeholder account.
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts.
- In the Placeholder section you will see all the accounts you have created that are still under your control.
- You will need to invite each family member in the Placeholder section to assume control of their family tree node. You will need to get the email address that the family member wants to use with Famzona (Google, Facebook and LinkedIn sign in will not work here).
- Once you have your family member's email address. Click "Invite Placeholder" for the family member you want to invite.
- On the invite page enter your family member's email address and click Submit.
- Your invited family member will receive an email instructing them to create a new account on Famzona using the email address you provided.
- Once your invited family member creates an account they will assume control of the account. The account status will change from Placeholder to Active and disappear from your Managed & Placeholder Accounts page.
Add media, thoughts and events to your account- Add images individually or grouped into albums in your Media Library. To do this, go to My Media in the left nav (bottom nav on mobile devices). Adding your thoughts and events are done from the same page – click Add Event in the left nav(bottom nav on mobile devices). ** Note the Family Media is a collection of media from your entire family. Media can be viewed on the Family Media page but new media cannot be added.
Add media, thoughts and events for an account that you manage- To add images, events or thoughts to an account that you manage you must first access their profile . To do this –
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Managed section you will see all the account that you control.
- To add individual images or videos click "Upload Media"
- To add an album of images or videos click "Media Library" -> "Add Media" -> "Add Album"
- To add thoughts or events click "Add Event"
Best practice. While you are editing a Managed member's account you will see a warning banner at the top of the screen. Once you have completed adding images, videos, thoughts or events click "Exit Manage Member Mode"
How do I add my profile image?
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Click Upload Profile Image
- Click Browse button and select your image from your device. Submit
- You will receive a notification if we are unable to validate your profile image

How do I add a profile image for an account I manage?
To add a profile image to a managed account, follow these steps-
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Managed section you will see all the account that you control.
- Click "Edit" on the account whose profile image you would like to add or update
- On the top of the edit area click the Choose File button to select a profile image.
**Note an invalid profile image only affects our advance features. The rest of your account will work fine with an invalid profile image.
How do I manage notifications I'm receiving?
- Media notification – get notified whenever a family member posts media
- Message notification - get notified whenever a family member posts a thought or event
- Message notification - get notified whenever Famzona has a new feature we think you might to like to know about.
How do I handover access to a Placeholder Account?
- The transfer process can be initiated from the Member List page or in the Managed & Placeholder Accounts area in Settings.
- Find the account that you wish to transfer then click Transfer Account button or link.
- A link will be shown.
- Send the link to the family member that you want to take over control of the Placeholder account.
- When your family member follows the link you send them they will need to create a new Famzona account then confirm that wish to assume control of the Placeholder Account that you created for them.
- Once your family member has completed the previous steps they will control that account on Famzona. The account status will change from Placeholder to Active.
- Once your Loved One joins Famzona and accepts control of their family tree node, you will receive an email stating that the transfer is complete.
- Note – the transfer link mentioned in step 3 will expire 24 hours after creation. Once the transfer link has expired you will be able to create a new, valid transfer link if needed.
- Transfer links are personalized for your specific family member. For example, if you set up 5 different placeholder accounts for family members each of those accounts will require it their own transfer link.
How do I transfer access of a Managed Account?
Here is how you can transfer a Managed Account to another Active Account holder on your tree. -
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Your Managed Accounts section click the “Transfer Account To Another Family Member” button.
- On the Transfer Managed Account to Family Member page select the Managed Account that you want to transfer (In the example above that would be your sibling’s children). Then select the family member with an Active Account that will assume control on the transferred account (your sibling).
You will see a record of your Managed Account transfers following these steps:
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- Click View Transfer and Merge Status
Your sibling (in the example above) will see the incoming Managed Account transfers following these steps:
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- Click View Transfer and Merge Status
- In the Incoming Managed Member Transfer Requests section click View Pending Request(s).
- In the Incoming Managed Member Transfer Requests section there is an option to accept the account transfer.
How do I create on-demand personalized movies featuring my Loved One?
- Your Loved One must be departed.
- Your Loved One must have a profile photo that will work with our Advanced Features. (see FAQs - How can I determine if my Loved One’s profile photo will work)
- Your Loved One must have either a custom voice sample or a pre-made voice assigned to them. (see FAQs - How can I determine if my Loved One’s voice is configured)
- You must have a subscription with access configured (with Animation Access checked) between yourself and your Loved One .
When the previous conditions are met you can make an on-demand personalized movie featuring your Loved One following this steps -
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Your Managed Accounts section you will see all the account that you control.
- Click “Create Avatar” on the Loved One for whom you’d like to make a movie.
- On the page titled "Personalized Avatar Movies Featuring …" you should see your selected Loved One's photo and name.
- Enter the name that your Loved One should call you in the movie – (Your name or nickname)
- Select the script that you want your Loved One to follow in your movie
- When you select a script and your name/nickname has been entered you will see a preview of the script with your name/nickname embedded.
- Click the "Process" button.
- Once the movie process has begun you can follow its progress in the Avatar Process List lower on the page.
- When your movie processing is complete it will be saved in your Media Library under the Video tab.
How can I determine if Loved One's profile photo will work with Advanced Features?
Here's how to get to the Edit Area for a Managed Account:
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & PlaceholderAccounts
- In the Your Managed Accounts section you will see all the accounts that you control.
- Click "Edit" on your desired Loved One.
- Look for the field named "Will Profile Photo Work With Advanced Features?".
How can I determine if my Loved One's voice is configured properly?
Here’s how to get to the Edit Area for a Managed Account:
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & PlaceholderAccounts
- In the Your Managed Accounts section you will see all the accounts that you control.
- Click “Edit” on your desired Loved One.
- Look for the field named Is Voice Configured For Advanced Features?
You can upload a new custom voice sample from your Loved One's Edit page. Or you can select a pre-made voice- follow link on your Loved One's Edit page.
How do I receive/pause daily personalized avatar movies featuring my Loved One?
For subscribers or those with Managed Accounts that another subscriber has added a connection to – (Meaning the daily movie features a Loved One in your Managed Accounts list. )
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Your Managed Accounts section you will see all the accounts that you control.
- Find your Loved One that you want to receive or pause daily movies.
- Switch to toggle switch titled “Receive Daily Avatar message from [name]”
For those who have been given subscription access from another family member – (Meaning a subscriber has given you access to a Loved One who is not in your Managed Accounts list. )
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- Goto Managed & Placeholder Accounts
- In the Subscription Access Shared With Me section you will see all the accounts that you have access to.
- Find the Loved One for whom you want to receive or pause daily movies.
- Toggle switch titled “Receive Daily Avatar message from [name]”
**Note when personalized avatar movies option is started or paused it may take up to 24 hours for new movies to begin appearing in your account.
How do User Rewards work?
How are rewards earned? You can earn rewards by doing everyday Famzona activities such as adding family members, transferring placeholder accounts, and commenting on media. The Rewards Chart lists the activities that earn credits and the value of each [LINK]
How much is a reward credit worth? Each reward credit is worth $1. For example, if adding a placeholder member is worth 10 credits, that equals a $10 value!
What can you spend reward credits on? You can use your reward credits toward subscriptions and gift shop purchases.
How do I convert reward credits to subscriptions and gift shop value? As you earn credits for various Famzona activities, you can redeem them at any time and apply the value toward your subscriptions or gift shop purchases. When you are ready take these steps-
- Click Settings in left nav (bottom nav on mobile)
- In section named User Rewards Summary you will see your current reward credits total. Click the Redeem Rewards button.
- On the Redeem Your Rewards page you select whether you want to apply your credits toward a subscription or a gift shop purchase.
- Once you redeem your credits you will receive a promo code you can apply to the category you selected in step 3.
Reward Credit Rules
- There is a lifetime maximum of 70 credits a user can earn.
- The promo code that is created when credits are redeemed expires 12 months after issuance.
- Credits may not be converted to cash.
- Gift Shop purchases using a rewards promo code which are eligible for return will only be refunded the order value minus the promo code amount.
- Many credits that are given for activities have expiration dates. Values for activities and their expiration dates can be found on this Rewards Chart [LINK]
- The value earned for a particular activity may vary over time. We will not adjust your reward values retroactively, either up or down.
- Credits must be redeemed in full for the category you select. For example, if you have 80 credits, you cannot apply $40 towards subscriptions and $40 towards a Gift Shop purchase.
- Once you redeem your credits and receive a promo code, you must use that promo code before you can receive another one. For example: You earn 50 credits and redeem them for a $50 gift shop promo code. If you then do other activities that earn you 10 additional credits before using the $50 promo code in the gift shop, you won’t be able to redeem the extra 10 credits until the $50 promo code has been used. Note: Once you use your promo code in the gift shop or for a subscription, it may take up to 24 hours for it to be released for another redemption (for shop purchases, this 24-hour period begins on the ship date).
- A promo code generated for subscriptions can only be applied to the initial payment and cannot be spread out over multiple monthly payments. For example, if you have a promo code worth $50 and apply it to an Individual Monthly subscription ($10.99/month), the $50 would only cover the first month, not the following months. In this case, it would be more beneficial to apply the $50 value to a 6-month Individual subscription or a 3-month Family Bundle subscription.
- No refunds will be issued for any unused portion of a promo code. For example, if you have a promo code worth $50 and you purchase a subscription or gift shop items totaling $40, you will not receive a $10 credit.
